Golf Australia Express : Issue 5
LIST THE WISCONSIN. It’s home to Milwaukee, Al’s Diner and The Fonz. It’s also home to a masterpiece of world golf—the Straits course at Whistling Straits. Created by Pete Dye, the Whistling Straits hosted the 2004 and 2010 PGA championships and the 2007 US Senior Open. Sculpted along two miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, it opened for play in 1998. Although young in terms of golf heritage, the course has already received many ringing endorsements from the game’s elite. If you get close enough you’ll hear Vijay singing its praise. But no matter how close you get to Dustin Johnson, don’t expect to hear him humming the tune to Happy Days. It’s more likely to be the Bee Gees’ Tragedy.
