Golf Australia Express : Issue 5
LIST THE WELLTHIS was a tough one. We must admit our search to find leading golf architects with a ‘W’ was difficult. But by ‘Watson’ we kept delving and our sleuth work uncovered a gem. We couldn’t have a best of ‘W’ issue and not have the great man—Tom Sturges Watson—in it. OK, so he’s better known for being an awesome golfer and super bloke, but he’s designed or redesigned enough courses to include him here. Here are a few: Ballybunion (Old) course in Ireland; The Links at Spanish Bay in California, and Cassique at the Kiawah Island Club in South Carolina. With this in mind Watson has proven himself to be worthy of this title. And that’s all true. So too, unfortunately, is his middle name. COURSE ARCHITECT Tom WATSON David Scaletti Photography
