Golf Australia Express : Issue 25
PLAYER THE KEEGAN BRADLEY was born in the sleepy US alpine town of Woodstock, Vermont in June 1986. And as he quickly became a marvel on the slopes— he was an all state ski racer—we very nearly lost him to a colder sport. But this lad was always destined to make a name for himself with sticks of another kind. After all, golf is in the family’s bloodlines. Keegan’s dad, Mark Bradley, is head professional at the Jackson Hole Golf Club in Wyoming. NO ROOKIE MISTAKES At the 2011 PGA Championship, Bradley joined just two other professionals to win in their first major appearance—Francis Ouimet and Ben Curtis. NOT MANY of us have achieved a helluva lot by 25. The 2011 Rookie of the Year, Keegan Bradley, certainly has. The quarter- centurion produced one of the standout rookie performances of all time in last season— stamping his name on the game as a two-time PGA Tour winner, a PGA Championship major winner and an out-and- out big-time clutch player. Winning the Rookie of the Year award capped off a stellar start to a career that many in the know expect to last some time. And with a sound head on his shoulders, some more-than-handy advice on hand, and a dogged determination to win, it’s hard not to feel that destiny’s in his own hands.
