STAT THE THE NUMBERS DON’T LIE... DESPITE COMING off a couple of impressive seasons, Nick Watney has experienced a real drop in power off the tee in 2012. The 30-year-old American— who’s known as one of the longer hitters on Tour—is averaging a mere 285.4 yards per drive which ranks 106th on Tour. Those numbers are way down from 2011, when Watney was 16th on Tour in driving distance, averaging 301.9 yards. And although the loss of power hasn’t precluded him from making all seven cuts this season, he’s a long way (16.5 yards) from his 2011 self, having jumped into the world top 10 with two wins, 10 top 10s and more than $5 million to finish 3rd on the money list. The big fella’s got some work ahead of him.
